I believe it was years and years ago when it was originally published, and I didn’t think too much of it then, but rereading it today had me open-mouthed at her advice. Shame on you, Jeanne! I hope she likewise regrets that advice. Names carry so much more than just sound. My kindergarten teacher changed my name because she assumed I was spelling it wrong and kept marking it wrong on my homework until I gave in and changed it to what she wanted.
